LCDS & INVORG - How Partnership and Technology Made Every Minute Count

An organization can only move in the right direction when it makes the right decisions at every step. And for organizations that exist to serve the community, every decision carries weight. For Lambton County Developmental Services (LCDS), every choice touches real lives - people with developmental disabilities, their families, and the communities they live in.

For more than 70 years, LCDS has been living its mission of empowering people with developmental disabilities while working toward its vision of inclusive communities ~ innovative leaders. With a 94% community satisfaction rate, LCDS has proven that dedication, empathy, and innovation can go hand in hand. But even an organization this strong faces challenges. True impact can only happen when mission-driven organizations find partners who understand their journey and share their values.

This is where INVORG came in.

From the very beginning, we recognized that LCDS and INVORG were aligned in purpose. We believe that technology should empower people, not complicate their work. For organizations whose work is deeply human-centered, like LCDS, digital tools must support and not disrupt the mission. We knew that our role wasn’t just to provide software, but to be a partner in solving real problems and amplifying impact.

A Journey of Understanding

Our partnership began at the INVORG Digital Impact Conference 2023. This wasn’t a typical vendor-client introduction. Instead, it was a space to exchange ideas, understand challenges, and explore how digital transformation could enhance the mission of LCDS.

Through discussions, and sessions, we learned about the daily realities of their staff. LCDS employs over 220 dedicated individuals, providing services such as:

  • Accommodation Support
  • Supported Independent Living
  • Empowering Employment
  • Host Family
  • Community Connections

Every one of these services starts with a person who cares. But these same employees were often caught in a cycle of digital friction: multiple platforms, multiple logins, multiple passwords. Each day began with a mental checklist of usernames, URLs, and passwords. Every login was a small obstacle that added up to lost productivity, frustration, and wasted time.

In an organization where every minute counts, this was a problem that could not be ignored.

Listening before Building

INVORG didn’t rush to provide a solution. Our first step was to understand the real pain points. We held discovery sessions in January 2024, diving into the workflow of LCDS employees. What we found was clear:

  • Staff were losing significant time just accessing applications
  • Repeated logins were frustrating and distracting
  • The process disrupted workflow and slowed down service delivery

It wasn’t just inconvenience - it was a barrier to impact. For an organization focused on serving people with developmental disabilities, time saved is care gained.

The Solution: Single Sign-On (SSO)

We designed and implemented a Single Sign-On (SSO) platform, tailored to LCDS’s needs. With SSO, employees could securely access all their applications from one single portal as a highly secure, encrypted and enabled with multifactor authorization login, designed to provide access to each of their systems within one digital solution.

This solution provided:

  • Unified access: Every platform, every application, one login
  • Azure AD integration: Secure, reliable, and seamless
  • Custom quick links: Personalized shortcuts for frequently used tools
  • Real-time updates: Instant notifications across platforms

The Impact: Time, Focus, and Empowerment

Studies show that after implementing SSO:

  • Login time is reduced by 40–60% per employee
  • Password-related issues drop by over 70%
  • Staff can move between applications effortlessly
  • Productivity improves and frustration levels drop

The difference isn’t just in numbers it’s in how staff can start their day focused on care, not logins.

“This has been extremely helpful in streamlining our login process, ultimately saving time, frustration and confusion.” — Jill Johnston, Residential Supports Director
“The SSO has allowed the agency to be more efficient and has been a great time saver for staff signing into different software platforms. This has been extremely helpful for employees not having use or save multiple passwords to sign into various platforms.” — Krista McCann, Community Supports Director (Lambton County Developmental Services)

Beyond Access: A Bigger Data Challenge and the INVORG Intelligence Dashboard Solution

As a not-for-profit organization, LCDS provides services such as accommodation supports, supported independent living, empowering employment, host family, and community connections, with their ultimate goal being to serve the community and make a meaningful impact.

In doing so, like most nonprofits, they process large volumes of data about people, services, and outcomes. For example, if they needed to find out how many medication errors happened last month, they had to go through bundles of Excel sheets and manually extract the data.

It wasn’t just about one report. If they needed to know what kind of incidents were happening:

  • With whom, locations and frequency
  • If incidents were occurring and recurring – were they location or individual specific, identifying potential issues around programming or staff support.
  • What the potential causes of the incidents were
  • For accidents, were they random, or repetitive – were they location specific, due to maintenance issues or person supported, identifying a shift in needs-based supports
  • How performance was trending

They had to pull mountains of data from spreadsheets and other files yet still couldn’t find answers accurately or quickly. This didn’t just slow their processes. It slowed the overall progress of the organization and led to:

  • Slow decision-making: Time lost reconciling reports instead of serving the community
  • Reactive strategies: Decisions responding to past crises instead of emerging needs
  • Team burnout: Staff becoming “report generators” instead of strategic thinkers
  • Blind spots: Managers sensing something was wrong but struggling to pinpoint where or why

The Solution: INVORG Intelligence Dashboard

After deep discussions, we created their platform that could:

  • Pull data from multiple sources
  • Show real-time insights
  • Turn data into actionable intelligence
  • Support strategic planning and operational improvements
“INVORG did an excellent job helping us pull data from a complex system and presenting it in a clean, easy-to-read dashboard. The visual graphs and layout make the information far more accessible and user-friendly...” — Lori Richardson, Quality Enhancement Manager (Lambton County Developmental Services)

Built using Microsoft’s Power Bi’s deep data analytics and reporting, but enabled with Ai Co-Pilot, now they can simply ask questions like: “How many medication errors happened last week?” and get instant answers that reveal trends and root causes.

“This has been a game changer to be able to access real time data, ranging from individual to agency wide, at the click of a button...” — Jill Johnston, Residential Supports Director (Lambton County Developmental Services)

The Journey Continues

The journey didn’t end with SSO and Intelligence Dashboard. INVORG remains committed to LCDS as a trusted technology partner supporting them at every step to ensure they can continue serving their community efficiently, innovatively, and with impact.

Because it’s not just about providing digital solutions. It’s about understanding people, walking with them, and partnering to create meaningful change.
